About Martha Simon
I have spent my life in education, mostly as a special education teacher. My students had all types of learning abilities and challenges. I also worked with students who didn't stand out in any particular way, didn't make waves, but still prospered when they were immersed in quality educational experiences. My goal is to advocate for every student in Burlington so that they can reach their potential - whether in AP classes, on an IEP, or in mainstream classrooms.
I grew up in NY and went to Cornell University. My Master’s degree is from Lesley University in Special Education. My family came to Burlington 33 years ago and my children were educated in the Burlington Public Schools. I also am a founding member of the Friends of the Burlington Landlocked Forest.
